nbm are proud to announce their involvement in the transformative, multi-million-pound redevelopment of Crieff Hydro, the flagship property of Scotland’s oldest registered trading company and leading independent hotel operator, Crieff Hydro Family of Hotels.

The ambitious project is the vision of brothers, Richard and Charlie Leckie - the sixth generation of the Leckie family at Crieff Hydro. The investment will see the creation of a vibrant day-to-night bar, a speakeasy, and upgraded dining spaces, offering an elevated experience for guests, Country Club members, and the local community. Work is scheduled to begin in January 2025 with the new areas to be unveiled in April 2025.

The redevelopment will deliver new dining experiences showcasing Scotland’s finest produce, alongside expertly curated cocktails, whiskies, and champagnes. The hotel will remain open throughout the project and will be business as usual.

nbm are looking forward to working with the team at Crieff Hydro and will oversee all aspects of cost planning, budgeting, and financial management for the project.

Charlie Leckie said: "This investment marks a key milestone in the 156-year journey of Crieff Hydro. It is the most significant investment project we’ve undertaken in the last 20 years and one we’ve been planning for quite some time. The nature of this project in an open hotel means it needs to be carried out as quickly as possible with little disruption to our guests.

We have a longstanding team of outstanding professionals including nbm who have brought particular expertise to the project and are pleased to have found a suitably experienced and enthusiastic lead contractor in Thomas Johnstone who started out in business in the same year as Crieff Hydro - 1868.

My family is proud of the hotel’s heritage, which means so much to the many guests that we welcome every year. We’ll be making sure that history is protected and shared in the contemporary offering we’ll be bringing to our guests. Over the coming months, we’ll unveil further details on all the food and drink menus and experiences.”

The partnership between Crieff Hydro and nbm reflects a shared commitment to excellence, combining Crieff Hydro’s156-year heritage with nbm’s track record of delivering projects on time, on budget, and to the highest standard.
